FINNUT is a long-term programme for research and innovation in the educational sector. The programme funds research on a wide spectrum from early childhood education and care to higher education and adult learning. FINNUT will develop knowledge of high quality and relevance, based upon the needs and concerns of the field of practice.
VEBB is one of eight innovation projects in the public sector that were granted funding from FINNUT in 2016. VEBB is the only project on early education and care amongst the eight, but research in early education and care is a growing area in Norwegian research. 16 % of FINNUT grants are now directed towards this area.
- VEBB is a central contribution to the growth in early education and care research, says associate professor Margrethe Jernes at the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care, University of Stavanger.
On January 17, the Norwegian Research Council arranged a kick off-seminar for the eight new innovation projects funded by FINNUT. Associate professor and post doc Trude Hoel stressed the kindergartens’ need for a high quality practice in language and literature, which is a principal element in VEBB.
