Extensive study of children’s development - The Stavanger Project
(03.07.2008) For eight years, almost 2000 children in Stavanger will be observed in various areas of development. Development within language, motor skills, maths and social skills, will be mapped while the children are in their natural environment. The Stavanger project ”The Learning Child” is an extensive and unique study.

Belief in own abilities produces results
(03.07.2008) Having faith in their own abilities produces positive results for pupils with severe dyslexia. This is the conclusion of a qualitative study carried out at the Reading Centre. Two thirds of the pupils reported progress in an 8 month period.

The Centre for Reading Education and Research (Reading Centre) aims to gain insight which will help strengthen reading- and writing education in schools and society.
Research at the Reading Centre should include pure research as well as applied research. With its close connection with the field of practise, the research at the centre has a clear practical foundation. The Reading Centre will form the basis for co-operation with other research environments, at the University of Stavanger, as well as nationally and internationally.
