The Reading Centre is active in three domains:

  • As part of the University of Stavanger with responsibility for lecturing, tutoring and research
  • As part of the national network of special education centres responsible for counselling, development of educational material and in-service teacher training
  • As National Centre for Reading Education reporting directly to The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (special funding)
The services as national centre for reading education and as national centre for special education are available on a nation- wide basis. The Centre has a small clinical department for diagnosing reading difficulties. Students can be referred from all over Norway.
